Dr. Ian Matthews grew up in eastern Kansas and earned his undergraduate degree in Life Sciences from Kansas State University. He attended Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, graduating as a Doctor of Osteopathy in 2013. After completing an osteopathic internship in Bradenton, FL he served for four years as an Air Force Flight Surgeon.
After completing his commitment to the Air Force, Dr. Matthews finished internal medicine residency at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX. Dr. Matthews utilizes a holistic approach for weight management that focuses on nutrition, physical activity, lifestyle modifications and medication. Dr. Matthews is proud to offer his patients solutions that are doable yet effective to improve overall health in the treatment of obesity. Dr. Matthews considers mind-body treatment essential for weight reduction and weight loss maintenance. Patients describe him as sincere, thoughtful, and compassionate.
He lives in Lubbock with his wife and children. His hobbies include lifting weights, studying history and brewing specialty coffee.
Dr. Matthews splits his time between his weight loss practice with Ignite and his osteopathic manual therapy clinic Red Oak Osteopathy in Lubbock. Dr. Matthews is licensed to practice in Texas, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska and treats patients 18 years and older via telemedicine at Ignite.
